EDITORIAL

Dear reader,

Charity and Social Sponsoring – these are fashionable terms which many companies are rapidly beginning to adopt as their own. In fact, Clark rather sees itself as a solid partner for good causes. Those already being put in place worldwide in a number of local initiatives are impressive. Our parent company in South Korea is resolutely leading the way, and is financing such things as schools, colleges, churches, nurseries, hospitals and children’s homes. That is active social responsibility with an emphasis on promoting education. Sustainability in support of social projects is another factor which Clark would not be able to guarantee without the commitment of its own employees. So, once again, a very big thank you to my hard-working colleagues, their families and friends, who were able to make a noble donation for “Friedensdorf International” through the Clark summer festival 2012.

Sport, games and a great deal of fun at the “Mini-Euros” in Mülheim

Clark Summer Festival 2012 

Red hot final at the Clark football tournament 2012: The team led by the Managing Director of Starep, Uwe Litzke (Mühlhausen), overcame the team of the PFK Group from Cologne, which was led by Thomas Schnor and was only formed a few weeks ago, with a 2:0 victory. Third place went to Tecklenborg Döbeln and fourth place to the team Techniparts. 

The top-quality final was the sporting highlight of the Clark summer festival, Clark Europe GmbH having invited the teams onto the sports field of TuSpo Saarn in the middle of June 2012. Twelve football teams and some one-hundred visitors made the journey to the field in Mülheim within eyeshot of the Ruhr to score goals out on the lush grass or at the goal wall, to have a cosy little chat, to watch the ambitious mid-field kick during the tournament or to indulge themselves in anything from fried sausages and bread rolls to coffee and cake. People were rocking as well: There was live music in the early evening by the band Pinkepank, whereby the Clark representatives from the Netherlands (Bakker / Techniparts) and Belgium (Deceuninck I+II) were very much the party animals. Despite a bit of rain at times, the summer festival was also a great occasion for the little ones with a bouncy castle, a painting competition, a make-up area and tombola. Keyword tombola. Just as with all other earnings, the proceeds from this also went to “Friedensdorf International”. Mind you, the first prizes were three balloon flights sponsored by the Mülheim balloon club. 

“Friedensdorf International” (based in Oberhausen) was founded on 6th July 1967 as a civic action group with the aim of directly helping children from war-torn and crisis regions, for example Iraq, North Uganda, and South Sudan, in a non-bureaucratic, non-political way.

Clark dealer Suret Sp. z o.o. is celebrating its anniversary 20 successful active years in Poland 

 Polish storybook career 

Anniversary at Clark dealer Suret Sp. z o.o. in Poland: Established in April 1992, the dynamically developing company has been offering a wide range of services in the field of logistics for 20 years. The head office is in the town of Debica in the South of Poland, not far away from Krakow. 

Suret is considered a Polish success story par excellence and offers a wide range of services in the only EU country to end the worldwide recession year of 2009 with a 1.7 percent growth in GDP. The main focus, of course, is on sales and logistics - but Suret also offers specialised engineering services such as storing and developing product lines. The advantage: Suret has gained a reputation as a reliable, highly competent outsourcing partner for foreign companies investing in transport and warehouse management in Poland. 

 Even in times of economic and political transformation (which Poland lived through, going from being an ex-Eastern Bloc state to becoming a fully-fledged EU member with formidable growth rates), this factor is not to be underestimated. 

 Renting, sales of new and used machinery, as well as service including spare parts procurement of forklift trucks, rank among the key business areas of Suret. The Polish company, which has Clark service support offices in five provinces nationwide, has been part of the Clark dealer community since March 2009. 

Clark’s best market-wide price-performance ratio at that time was the decisive factor for the partnership, which Suret is continuing to build up unconditionally today: “In order to meet our customers’ expectations, we have decided to work in collaboration with Clark. Clark has a very good reputation in the market and has robust, economical machines.“

New Clark dealer in profile: Hofner Hebetechnik 

AC technology in focus 

As a brand, Clark attracts dealers and customers – the excellent reputation of “The Forklift” also attracted Hofner Hebetechnik to the membership of the Clark dealer community in 2011. 

Established in 2003 in Hollenbach (Bavaria), Hofner Hebetechnik moved to Gersthofen near Augsburg in 2009, where a new sales and service centre is currently under construction directly on the A8. Led by Pius Hofner, the eight-member company generates approx. 5 million Euros a year through sales, rental and service of forklifts and warehouse technology from Clark, truck loading cranes, roll-on/roll-off containers, deposit tippers (Palfinger) and side forklifts (Baumann Rosso). The small sole proprietors as well as the medium-sized or major customers of the timber trade, steel, printing and logistics industries and hardware merchants rank among the customers. They all appreciate the optimum consultation of on-site, fast and flexible services and high quality equipment at sensible prices (very typical of Clark). “The comparatively low amount of maintenance also makes Clark attractive”, says Site Manager Tobias Hofner, who showed a strong interest in the battery-powered three-wheel truck GTX 16 at the Hofner stand at the AFA (Augsburger Frühjahrsausstellung – Augsburg spring exhibition) in mid-April 2012. Incidentally, Hofner marked the participation at the trade fair as a complete success. Hofner counted over 200 visitors to the stand, from forklift drivers and purchasers to the Managing Director, which suggests renewed support for the AFA in 2013, especially if one is in a prime position with Clark: “The trend”, according to Hofner, “is clearly heading towards electronic equipment.”

Clark dealers in Lithuania: Domingos Prekyba 

Strong presence in the Baltic 

A fresh face in the dealer community of Clark Europe GmbH: Since 2010, the Lithuanian company Domingos Prekyba has been strengthening the Clark network in Eastern Europe. Established in 1998 as a dealer and service provider of forestry machines, the company has blossomed into a leading, widespread partner of the industry in Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus and Kaliningrad. 

Domingos Prekyba is active in five business divisions at four Lithuanian support offices (Vilnius, Kauna, Siauliai): Industry components, technical equipment, forestry machines, construction machinery and now also Clark forklift trucks (Sales, service, renting). 

The tightly organised team run by the Managing Director Vilmantas Petrauskas particularly appreciates Clark’s outstanding price-performance ratio, strong brand name and the possibility of more flexible renting / purchase options. 

In view of the product range and service portfolio, the fact that approx. 800 industrial customers are trying to contact Domingos Prekyba is not very surprising. 

With around 50 employees, half of whom work in sales and the other half in service, Domingos Prekyba generated sales of around 9.1 million Euros in the year 2011. 

This enabled the 100 percent subsidiary company of Libra Holding to get back on track after the difficult years 2009/2010 and to rebuild on its convincing figures in 2008.

Anniversary:
Kowalski Transportgeräte GmbH 

“Green” 

20-year anniversary of the company. A newly obtained place of business. And a wealth of experience in respect to Clark unlike any other. The green light has been given at Kowalski Transportgeräte GmbH in the Lower Rhine. 

With 22 employees, among them twelve service technicians, Kowalski Transportgeräte is now offering the complete range from sales and rental to service relating to “The Forklift”. The area from Moers via Krefeld and Mönchengladbach to Aachen, including Düsseldorf and Neuss, is being run by the team led by Senior Manager and ex Clark member Dietmar Kowalski, who is also incidentally chairman of the Clark Dealer Advisory Board. 

The Company which Dietmar Kowalski actually established as a start-up businessman in 1992 in a rented double garage has since grown considerably. At the new company site Regiopark in the south of Mönchengladbach, Kowalski Transportgeräte has over 2,800m2 of working space with newly installed offices (240m2), a large hall (800m2) and a modern workshop (300m2). Kowalski currently has 65 hire machines in its stock which can be taken to the customer using their own 40t semitrailer if necessary. 

“We are green through and through, we have grown up with Clark and have never done anything different in the counterbalanced forklift field”, says Dietmar Kowalski, “Our customers value this consistency, especially those who know Clark and associate it with having a good reputation.” Kowalski’s GTX and LPG series C20-35 forklift are currently in high demand, “even though there is a distinct trend towards electric machines”, explains Dietmar Kowalski.

De Waalpaal relies on C35D for steel pipe transportation 

Dutch speciality

The nation wears orange, Clark generally green and the civil engineering company Van’t Hek blue-grey. The Dutch company Van’t Hek Bros.’ uncompromising commitment to their own colour has also led to them ordering their new Clark C35D in blue-grey from Clark-dealer Bakker Heftrucks Pumerend. 

Play of colours aside: The C35D must now demonstrate its performance. With a load capacity of up to 3,500 kg and powerful 2.8 litre diesel engine with direct fuel injection, it is performing the toughest work at the Van’t Hek affiliated company De Waalpaal. 

Specifically, it involves storing steel pipes produced on the premises, transporting them and loading them onto trucks. The pipes are used in specialist civil engineering, for example for foundation work and restoration work in Amsterdam. The Dutch capital is constructed on hundreds of thousands of spruce stems, some of which need replacing; 40 were required for a single house, 13,600 for the Royal Palace. The poles were driven around eleven meters deep into the muddy ground.

Stefan Budweit (44) is the new Business Development Manager at Clark Europe. The European Clark head office put the expert in industrial trucks in charge of the tasks of trade development, business development and sales strategy planning on 2nd May 2012. Stefan Budweit is well-known in The Forklift truck business: From 2002 to 2012, the trained businessman was working in a leading position (European Key Account Manager) for Toyota. Prior to that, from 1995 to 2002, Budweit was working for Jungheinrich in International Key Account Management, in spare parts and as a regional Export Manager in the Near and Middle East, Southeast Asia and China.

Tatiana Rayen (36) has been a sales assistant at Clark Europe in Mülheim since 1st June 2012.

The trained economist will in future be the communicative interface between inside and outside sales. Her range of duties include those in the fleet and wholesale area together with back office activities in Sales Management Statistics, reporting and analysis as well as project works. As well as German and English, Tatiana Rayen can also speak Russian. Which is perfect, since she grew up in Moscow, did her A-Levels there, studied there and worked at three banks.

Clark is now dashing through southern France

From the cement mixer to the refrigerated lorry and trailer right up to the counterbalanced forklifts: The French Clark dealer Serignac from Toulouse covers the needs of several industrial and commercial customers. 

 The 130-strong company, which has three sites in the southern French metropolis, has now put a service vehicle into the limelight as a mobile advertising medium. Topics are service, sales and renting of: Clark.

Smart iPad – lucky winner

 The iPad2 drawn as a prize by Clark at the leading trade fair LogiMAT in Stuttgart has a lucky new owner. Walter Xander warmly congratulated by Dirk Blanke, Clark Europe GmbH and Frank Lottko from Clark dealer Hald & Grünewald on winning the new tablet computer made by the US manufacturer Apple. Walter Xander has been working at fischer automotive systems GmbH & Co. KG in Horn am Neckar since 2004. Position: Dispatcher of empty containers.

No compromises

As diverse as its duties: Manual lifting Pallet Truck from Clark

Versatile, robust, ergonomic

The high-speed hub of the Clark manual lifting pallet truck is an essential element in all situations where time is converted to hard cash when lifting and transporting. In the quick-lift variant, the manual lifting truck (load capacity: 2,500kg) achieves a fork height of 200 mm with only five pumps of the control handle. 

 Conversely, this means that a pallet can be lifted using two pumps of the handle, which does not demonstrate fully the unique finesse of the Clark Pallet Truck. 

 The versatile standard machine with tandem tyres, a turning lock of more than 90° and a fork length of 1,150 mm gives unequalled flexibility. Nylon/nylon or rubber/nylon designs are available for fork rollers and load wheels. 

 The ergonomically designed drawbar handle also fits in with the concept of comfortable workflow with the Clark Pallet Truck. This is used to carry out the three functions of lifting, lowering and steering in virtually next to no time. 

 Together with the strong drawbar, and an enclosed galvanised hydraulic pump, safety and protection against dirt and damp is guaranteed. The pump also carries a two-year guarantee. The considerably longer service life compared to that of standard machines is supported by a long-term secured supply of spare parts.

Clark training at Swaidan Trading

Moving on

In the state-of-the-art premises of Clark dealer Swaidan Trading in Dubai, Jeff Green, International Sales Manager of Clark Europe Gmbh, gathered together a select group for intensive training.

Salespeople and dealers from the whole Middle East region (Clark representatives from Egypt, Dubai, Jordan, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia met in Dubai) travelled to find out more about “Features, Functions and Benefits” of the Clark models C20/35, C40/55, GTX16/20s, GEX16/30 and the new CTX 40/70.

The hands-on session, in which the exciting Clark products were actually studied more closely, was particularly effective after several hours of theory.

At the end of the successful event, Jeff Green was more than satisfied with his training and the participants: “I am convinced that this seminar has generated so much enthusiasm for Clark products that even more sales, and hence turnover, can be expected in the Near East in future.”

Clark dealer meeting at Geotrade

Positive signals

Pontenure in “Bella Italia“ was, for one day, the centre of the Clark world. Around 50 Clark representatives from all over Italy gathered around the hosts from the northern Italian Clark dealer Geotrade for the dealer meeting on 4th May 2012.

The central topics of a highly interesting day included both technical innovations and new machines, which could be looked at closely directly on site. However, the speakers Gianandrea Galli (Sales Manager Italy and Southeast Europe) and Egon Strehl (Managing Director Clark Europe GmbH) also introduced the topics of sales strategies and global innovations regarding “The Forklift”. “An excellent dealer meeting in terms of both quality and quantity”, is how Egon Strehl summed it up, “the fact that so many people made their way to northern Italy was really gratifying. In combination with the lively interest in new features and machines, I am confident that the Italian market will gain further momentum.”

AM Forktrucks satisfied by the Totalift concept

Coherent global solution

AM Forktrucks: “We do not only deal with our end customers from the Totalift programme, but also with trade. And since the spare parts business accounts for a substantial part of our sales, we also rely on Clark for the very competitive price structure.”

 The team led by Ossie Behget, Parts Manager of the British Clark dealer AM Forktrucks Ltd from Barking, Essex, uses the Totalift offer from Clark intensively. Totalift offers the opportunity to order a number of service parts, predominantly fast-moving items, for competitors industrial trucks, which can be very easily transcoded to Clark. Ossie Behget continues: “As a new Clark dealer, we are very much intent on being able to provide as good a supply of parts as possible; that plays a large role for our customers and gains trust in the brand. Along with Clark machines, however, we also handle all big brands via Totalift, including external products, which colleagues still have today or used to have earlier in the programme.”
